What is Reiki?
The word ‘Reiki’ is a derivative from two Japanese words, ‘Rei’ meaning ‘the Higher Power’ and ‘Ki’ meaning ‘life force energy.’ They have been merged together to create the word ‘Reiki’ to literally mean: ‘A life force guided with spiritual energy.’ Although you are working closely with your spirit, Reiki is not a religion, nor does it promote a religion. There is not a basis for a specific kind of religious study you must undertake in order for Reiki to work for you. Reiki is spiritual, but it is not a practice a person has to ‘believe in.’ On the contrary, it has been found that many people feel closer to their closer religion of choice after coming into the participation of Reiki.
Reiki is the relationship between your spiritual energy and your physical being. It is the knowledge and understanding of capturing the essence of the two and learning how to read it so you may stay healthy and well. By doing so, you will be able to keep your Ki, your life force energy, healthy and harmonious with your physical body.
The workings of Reiki are an awesome practice, and quite simple in a very intricate way. When our life force field becomes disrupted by sickness, illness, or negativity, they cause an upset in the flow of our life force. This gets us down in both body and mind. We will not only feel this upset in our physical body, but it will interrupt our life force energy that swirls all around us. When this occurs, the vital and precious flow between the two is disrupted and both suffer. The practice of Reiki helps heal this disruption by bringing back positive energy and helping rebuild the positive flow back to the person, both with the spirit and with the body.
