Spells that Work for Self-Esteem
If you’re feeling very bad about yourself, you can conjure positive thoughts and heal your soul by using a spell to reaffirm your confidence. It’s okay to be sad, depressed or anxious, and you can honor your feelings by learning from them. Each negative experience we have is a chance to gain new perspectives from the situation. Sometimes, this may be painful or difficult, so approach your self-examination slowly. If you feel overwhelmed, take time out to breathe slowly, or stop and pick up where you left off at another time.
• Purple candle
• Peppermint essential oil
• Pen and small piece of paper
Cast a protective circle large enough for you to sit in the middle of it. Take a pinch of salt, and sprinkle it around the area where you will be sitting. Write down what is bothering you. This can be as specific or as vague as you want. For example, you may write: “I dislike how I look. I wish I could lose weight.” Write down anything you want, and let your emotions out. This may be difficult, but it is important to be as honest with yourself as possible. Fold the paper in half, and place it in front of the candle. As you light the candle, say, “This flame burns bright to bring warmth and light where there is darkness inside me. I am safe right now. I am a good person, and I deserve to feel good. My body is special and deserves care. My soul is unique, and deserves to be healed.” Anoint each wrist with the peppermint oil.
This oil is very stimulating, and as you breathe in its refreshing scent, allow your words to really resonate in your mind’s eye. You may want to repeat some of the affirmations as you breathe deeply. Now, take your piece of paper and destroy it. You can crumble it into a ball, or tear it into tiny pieces. Place the paper in the censer, and use a match to light it. As the paper burns, you’re banishing the negative influences that are harming your soul. Allow the paper to burn completely into ash. As it is burning, feel the warmth of the flame, and remember that Nature created you out of love. Let the candle burn down entirely, and when it has finished, collect the ashes from the burned paper. Step outside, and toss the ashes into the wind, and say, “I allow myself the freedom I deserve from these harmful thoughts. I am loved, by the Divine Goddess that created me, and protected from negativity.” When you are feeling down about yourself later, use the peppermint oil to conjure the spirit of this ritual, and remind you of the love that Mother Nature has for you.
